Wahoo has just unveiled the latest evolution of its GPS cycling computer family: the ELEMNT BOLT 3 and ELEMNT ROAM 3. Replacing the previous generation Bolt V2 and ROAM V2, these new units bring a significant leap forward in performance, features, and rider experience—each now built on the same platform as the flagship Wahoo ACE.
ELEMNT BOLT 3: Compact, Powerful, and Purposeful
The BOLT 3 remains the smallest of the trio, but don’t let that fool you—it’s packed with performance. With an upgraded 2.3-inch high-contrast display, enhanced multiband GPS, and a sleek button-only interface, it’s a smart choice for those who love simplicity and speed.
Key highlights:
- Same platform as the ACE and ROAM 3
- Upgraded multiband GPS
- Crisp 2.3" color screen
- 20-hour claimed battery life
- Button-only operation (no touchscreen)
- Lacks wind sensor and full speaker but includes a beeper for turn alerts
- It’s compact, reliable, and ready to guide you through any route—without the distractions.
ELEMNT ROAM 3: Adventure, Amplified
For the explorers and adventurers, the ROAM 3 offers a feature-rich experience with a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, 16 million colors, and integrated speaker for voice navigation. Wahoo has taken what riders loved about the ACE and adapted it for a slightly smaller, more adventure-ready form factor.
New features include:
- Larger 2.8" screen with touchscreen support
- Full-color display (upgraded from 64 to 16M colors)
- Voice-guided navigation & bike bell functionality
- Street names & map layers with POI, Strava segments, and custom waypoints
- Activity profiles for road, MTB, gravel, and more
- New sensor pairing dashboard
- Always-visible battery, time, and GPS status
- Claimed 25-hour battery life
Gone are the top LED status indicators, with info now integrated into the display—a change that some may miss, but many will welcome.
Unified Platform, Evolving Ecosystem
All three units—ACE, ROAM 3, and BOLT 3—now share the same core software, interface, and visual language. Wahoo has committed to improving and expanding this ecosystem moving forward, focusing on innovation and future-ready upgrades.
What’s out: the older ELEMNT and ELEMNT Companion apps. Now, everything flows through the updated Wahoo app, which has seen massive improvements in stability and third-party compatibility since the ACE launch.
What About the Wahoo ACE?
The ACE remains the powerhouse of the lineup with a built-in wind sensor, speaker for spoken directions, and a larger screen. But if you don’t need all the bells and whistles, the new ROAM 3 or BOLT 3 might be your perfect fit—each optimized for specific rider needs.
Availability
BOLT 3 will officially go on sale from May 6, 2025.
