When the Strada was introduced in 2017, it set the benchmark for comfortable aero road bikes. The brand-new Strada takes advantage of the new UCI rules to become faster, routes the cables internally without an aero penalty, and continues to offer unparalleled aero comfort.
The engineering brief for the new Strada was quite simple:
- Take advantage of the more relaxed rules for aero shapes.
- Make it faster but keep the comfort of the original Strada.
- Route the cables internally if it makes the bike faster (so not with a wider headtube as is often done).
- Maintain full adjustability in stem length, bar width & bar angle and make adjustments easy.
- Make living with the Strada easier with regards to fork/tire clearance, seatpost, and saddle rail clamping.
3T achieved 4.5 out of 5 of these goals. Engineering also means compromising, and goals 3 and 4 simply clashed. Our analysis showed that the advantages of a more aero internal cable routing stay with you every pedal stroke, while full adjustment is non-negotiable as having an aero bike is useless if you can’t sit in the right position. Easy adjustment is less important as you only do that a few times (or never if your store does it when you buy). So the ease of adjustment was sacrificed in order to keep full adjustment and the best aerodynamics.
New UCI Rules
The new UCI rules allow certain tubes to be deeper. While 3T push the tubing as far as necessary, sometimes going deeper is detrimental. For example, the rear half of the frame remains slender without an aero penalty. The headtube, on the other hand, has evolved significantly, now featuring a deeper profile with a new nose cone, resulting in lower drag figures.
Faster Yet Comfortable
The Strada concept relies on two zones: the speed zone at the front, focused on aerodynamics, and the comfort zone at the rear, with a curved seattube and ultra-thin seat stays. This dual-zone approach ensures both speed and comfort, maintaining the original Strada’s philosophy while incorporating new aerodynamic tweaks.
Internal Cable Routing
3T has always loved the concept of fully internal cable routing but hated the execution. Our new design maintains a narrow headtube with 42mm cups at the top and 47mm at the bottom, avoiding the need for a fattened headtube. Custom slim bearings create space between the steerer and the headset for cable routing, maintaining a sleek, aero profile.
Full and Easy Adjustability
The new 3T APTO Integrale stem retains the sleek profile of the original APTO stem without added bulk for cable routing. It is compatible with both Superergo and Aeroflux bars, allowing full adjustability in stem length, bar width, and bar rotation. However, adjustments to bar width and stem length require rerunning the brake hoses, a compromise 3T deemed acceptable for the level of performance offered.
The new Strada is compatible only with electronic drivetrains, supporting SRAM Rival AXS, Force AXS, Red AXS, and Shimano 105, Ultegra, and Dura-Ace groupsets. While it doesn’t support Campagnolo Ekar for a 1x setup, it remains compatible with 1x and 2x drivetrains through two dedicated versions.
Making Life Easier
With extra tire clearance in the front fork, a new seatpost clamp, and the Ritchey saddle rail clamp, the new Strada is easier to live with. 3T is very excited to launch this brand new Strada, having achieved almost all the goals.

Currently, we have two sizes available: 51 and 54, both in Gloss Chrome.
