ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE FOR EVERY RIDER The 3T range is straightforward and easy to understand. Component families come in three version: LTD, TEAM and PRO. Each version has the same core engineering values, with execution tailored to performance and price point. You can see clearly how each component fits your need. LTD is the full expression of ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE by 3T. Products in this version are the best you can get, without compromise - usually specified by top pros and very demanding amateurs. TEAM components meet all requirements of top-level competition. They equal LTD in function, but have minor concessions to price, for example stainless steel bolts instead of titanium. PRO offers an ideal balance to riders who insist on top-class performance at the keenest price. This group typically includes many amateurs who purchase their own equipment.

3T INTELLIGENT PRODUCTION LIFECYCLE |
|
|
CAE design visualization 3T's engineers create a component on screen using CATIA, the
industry gold standard for new product design. Most aerospace and
automotive engineers use it for airframes and vehicle structures. CATIA
lets them interactively develop components. For example, they gave
experts a solid mock-up of the ERGONOVA bar to handle. They were told
right away how to improve it – 3T modified it within days.
The output from the CAE stage is a virtual prototype that meets their
design goals of function, comfort, aerodynamics, and appearance. |
|
|
Finite-element analysis Next 3T passes the prototype’s digital design files into FEA for stress testing. 3T model the forces acting on the component, examine how it performs under load, and change the design to perform better. For example, they found that by varying the wall thickness of a drop bar, they doubled its strength, but put the weight up by less than 5%. Optimizing the design now pays off later, with right-first-time manufactured prototypes.
|
|
|
Manufacturing optimization Next, they prepare the design for production. The strength of a
composite component depends on its layup – how the plies of the
composite material are set out. To determine the layup, 3T uses a
specialized engineering program, FiberSIM. This analyzes the strains in
every ply and produces a layup plan with the optimum mix of strength,
light weight, and low cost. This plan goes to their factory to guide the
lay up operators. |
|
|
Mechanical test Next they test the physical prototype. They put every 3T component through independent tests, and also their own tests. They bolt the component into a test rig, and subject it to a lifetime’s gruelling use in a few hours. The tests are different than just applying more force until the part fails. In normal use, bike components undergo continuous, repetitive stresses that peak in a big effort like a sprint or climb. The products are tested to model the stresses of real-world riding.
|
|
|
Pro rider test The final test is using the component. Whatever the numbers say, it has to feel right to the rider. That’s why 3T is a keen supporter of world-class cycle sport– because competition drives better component design. Their sponsored athletes expect the best. Their judgment is unsparing, because they push the performance envelope to the limit. 3T rely on them to tell provide feedback on how 3T components can be improved further. They hold 3T to their promise, to always perform perfectly.

MTB - NEW!!
| MTB is a new range of
components for 2010. It is aimed at pro and amateur off-road riders
who demand the ultimate performance – in function, strength, light
weight, and ease of use. MTB components intersect with 3T’s road
ranges. The proven, lightweight range of ARX stems and DORIC seat
posts meet off-road riders’ demands for ultimate strength in extreme
conditions. New riser and flat bars, like the road bars, offer a new
twist on proven formats. They among the lightest and toughest you can get. |
